No. 6 LSU wants to beat # 19 Tennessee 82-77-the Era-leader

Baton Rouge, La. (AP)-Kaylin Gilbert’s reservation scored 23 points, including two free throws in the final seconds to help No. 6 LSU to win 82-77 over No. 19 in Tennessee on Sunday.

With the victory, the tigers moved to the first place in the southeast conference with Texas and South Carolina.

Michael Williams scored 16 points, Anees Morow had 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Flyae Johnson added 12 points for LSU (25-1, 10-1).

Ruby Whitehorn scored 21 points, Jewel Spears added 19, Taleysia Cooper had 16, and Zee Spearman 15 for Lady Vols (17-6, 4-6), which came down from 80-76 victory over # 5 Uconn.

When two of the three fell into trouble in the middle of the third period, the tigers received 15 points of Gilbert in a quarter, including 12-10 on LSU in the last 5:18. LSU led 62-57, entering the fourth.

Tennessee reduced the LSU lead to 78-76 by 23.9 seconds. Whitehorn fouled Gilbert, who made two free throws with 21.8 left, and Morow made two for 82-76 leads with 13.7 others. Whitehorn made his first free throw with 11 seconds and missed his second. Morrow bounced to seal the victory.
