LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD)—Unfortunately, the rain we expected this weekend was overtaken by dry air.
Dry mid-level conditions and a lack of lift over our region kept us from precipitation this afternoon and continue to reduce our rain chances through Monday morning.
Chance of rain overnight
Reviving showers and storms across eastern New Mexico will continue to increase overnight and there is a small chance that this activity will move eastward into our area.
Most models are showing little chance of rain, but some are predicting a few showers for the western part of our viewing area. After midnight, these patterns have moisture that could potentially reach the I-27/Hwy-87 corridor.
If rains and storms develop, this activity should remain below the strict limits.
Heading into Monday
If we have any extended morning showers, they will push east out of the forecast area by late afternoon. A Pacific front is forecast to move into the area, which won’t do much for our conditions other than bring us a west-southwest wind.
Afternoon highs are expected to be in the mid 70s to mid 80s.
