Notre Dame loses the third game of ACC in a row on Virginia Tech – Onberver Online

Notre Dame Men’s Basketball lost his third game on Saturday, February 8, at Virginia Tech at home. Entering the 8-2 competition at home, the Irish were able to recover after heavy losses from back against Miami (Florida) and Florida. The Irish failed to stay on two-digit lead both in the first half (14) and in the second half (11) and fell in the last minutes against Virginia Tech, 65-63.

The Irish began the game of strong mileage, came out to 18-4 leads with 10:18, remained in the first half. The team fired an effective 50% of the terrain during this section, holding Virginia Tech less than 20% of the terrain, even without making a 3-indicator. Despite the early deficit, Virginia Tech did not give up. With three minutes remaining in the first half, Virginia Tech fights back to bring the lead back to just one point in 27-26. However, Notre Dame’s starters again entered the game and found a late offensive rhythm to bring three baskets unanswered and return the lead to seven at 33-26, redirected by a balance, contested jumper from the security of the sophomore Marcus Burton as time leaks out S

After the match, Junior, the striker Kebba Niji said: “The good teams, they stop down the stretch, and then it nourishes their insult. And so for us, I have the feeling that this is what we have to do. ”

Experimenting with various teams during the difficult last three games in the ACC Play, Notre Dam Shrewsbury’s chief coach played 11 different players in the first and second half to try to find teams that can generate consistent production.

After the match, Shrewsbury said, “So I’m trying to get more boys, trying to play at the right pace. And the hardest thing is to play short minutes and be really good at those short minutes, but you can be really good at the effort. The effort does not take anything right … I just want you to get in and maintain effort. ”

In the first eight minutes of the second half, Notre Dame started again with 13-6 to regain the double-digit lead at 46-35. Virginia Tech quickly bounced back, led by Toby Loal, who had a double-end with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Lawal had three immersive energy changes from lobes that breathed life back in Virginia Tech. Hokies finished the game, firing 39.3% of the pitch, which was exactly the same percentage as Notre Dam on the same number of shots.

The Virginia Tech will then continue with a stable, 15-6 passing over the next six minutes of the game to bring the score to 52-50 with Notre Dame with 6:27 left in the game. Burton knocked a jumper from the elbow to extend the Irish lead back to 54-51 lead by 4:24 to the left. He finished with 23 points when shooting 8 for 18. Virginia Tech won his first lead in the Lawal Jumper game, which made 55-54 with 3:06 remains in the game. Like Miami, the Irish again left the lead to slip inside in five minutes into the game and never regained it.

Notre Dam’s crime has become icy cold in the last three minutes and has been facing a deficit of 5 points to the left of a minute. Junior forward Tae Davis swung with 3-second eight seconds to return his total to 18 points, and the deficit back to 2, but Virginia Tech closed the game with Brandon Rechtener, which knocked 7 out of 8 free throws in the last 30 seconds to guard the Irish to tie the game into sequels.

“I think we have difficult guys,” said Shrusbury. “We just don’t do it right now. I deserve every part of the criticism that comes this way. I’ll take the blame. I am the one who calls the plays down. ”

Notre Dame is struggling to close the last three games against comparable teams in the ACC ranking. Even with the return of Burton, the development of Davis in the 15th-point of the goal scorer of the game and the easiest section of the conference schedule, Notre Dame has apparently lost his identity on both sides of the ball. Backing at Boston College, Louisville and Smu Next, Notre Dame needs to find a way to save this disappointing season and help his young players gain confidence aimed at the ACC tournament. Notre Dame will travel to Chestnut Hill to face the Boston College on Wednesday, February 12, hoping to break the losing series.
