Houston’s resident, Catherine, said that after leaving the bank and went to church, her car was broken. The thieves left with $ 1,000 money.

Hawston, a woman from Houston, spoke after the thieves stormed her car and stole money that she had just withdrawn from the bank.

This comes as the State legislator seeks to raise the punishment for this type of crime, more known as joining.

State representative David Cook of Fort Worth said the jungle should be committed in a separate criminal crime in Texas. He said that this would finally turn to the crime at his most early stage -when someone intends to steal.

For the Houston resident, Catherine, she was a whirlwind last week.

“I pray for them, you know, and this is not the right thing,” she said.

Catherine said last Monday she was a victim of an incident with a jig. Joining is when people are focused on robbery, usually after leaving a high -end bank or shop.

In the case of Catherine, she had just removed money from the bank for pursuit from West Gray, before driving a few minutes to her church, St. Ann.

“I thought I would go in there, you know, less than 5 minutes,” Catherine said.

During this time, someone managed to open their driver’s side window by raising $ 1,000 in money.

Catherine wants to share her story in the hope that she can help someone else.

“I think it is very possible that the one who committed this crime, and I would hope that the police will take it very seriously,” she said.

In 2023, police in Houston set up a working group to take the issue of jigging.

“The responsibility of our selected employees and the police are to prioritize this so that this does not happen,” Catherine said.

Nearly two years after the formation of the working group, Cook introduced a bill to make a jigging of a specific criminal offense.

If adopted in the law, the Bill of the Chamber 1902 will classify the crime as a crime from a state prison.

If robbery or burglary is committed, the charges may range from a third -degree crime to a crime, depending on whether there is violence.

The State Representative Cook said that it partly seems to “give law enforcement to a clear framework to disintegrate before leading to serious injuries or loss of life.”

He said the idea of the bill came after seeing a rise in the arms.

“The latest recurring crimes in the Houston region, for example, have shown that many of these offenders are suspected of being part of organized crime ringing,” Cook told KHOU 11 News in a statement. “In the end, my goal with this legislation is to strengthen public safety, to reinforce the criminals from targeting vulnerable persons, and to give the law enforcement agencies a clear framework to break up to jigs before leading to serious injuries or loss of life.”

Houston police said he was looking for a gray infiniti related to Catherine’s case.
