Fishermen Coalition to host Utah fishing in Capitol – KSLTV

Salt Lake City – The Utah Fishermen Coalition will host an event that emphasizes Utah’s fishing in Capitol on February 10th.

Between 8:00 and 9:30 am, the day of fishing on Utah on the hill will include organizations from the fishing industry in Utah. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

According to a list provided by the Utah English coalition, 34 organizations plan to participate in the event. It included non -profit organizations, retailers, artists and guides.

“Fishing is an important industry in Utah,” says Roger Wilson, chairman of the Utah Fishermen Coalition. “We organized this unique exhibit to train the selected employees and the public about the importance of fishing for our state economy and for the overall health and quality of life of the residents of Utah.

Utah’s fishing contributes to billions of economy

To Wilson, fishermen contribute to billions of dollars for the Utah economy.

A report, published in 2024 by the Department of Wildlife in Utah, says that fishermen contribute to $ 1.079 billion a year. Their costs support an industry that employs 17,800 people.

“Fishermen are traveling and fish everywhere in Utah, they spend a lot of money across the country on goods and services and vote,” Wilson said.

According to a DWR report, fishermen spent an average of $ 188 on a fishing trip in Utah in 2023. It is estimated that 418,000 licensed fishermen live in the state and on average fishermen take 14 fisheries every year.

According to Jeff Solt, the organizer of the events and secretary of the Utah Fishing Coalition, the event aims to emphasize the importance of fishing in the Utah economy.

“During the fishing day of Utah on the hill, we hope to” hang “and” reel in “several legislators and new fishermen of residents,” Salt said.
