Son of baseball legend facing “long odds” to make the list of nationals of Washington – Sports Illustrated

Camp battles will be something that every fan of Washington nationals should watch this spring.

Although many players seem to be placed in the rotation, composition and their positions, bad games or injuries are likely to force the manager Dave Martinez and the front office.

For example, what happens if CJ Abrams comes in with a bad treatment after decreasing? Or if Brady House does not adapt to Pitching Major League, as expected, or any of the veteran farmers who have been inserted, has exploded from one of the younger weapons?

Nationals seem to be still eating forward with their plan to play in young positions and honor their commitment, a poet to the beginners, promised a place in the rotation, but things can change, especially when jobs are potentially online.

So, camp battles will be interesting for observation, especially those for fringe place in the list.

That’s where Darren Baker finds himself.

The son of the baseball legend Dusty Baker made his debut in the main league as a player last season at 25.

Although it never breaks the list of the top 30 prospects for the MLB Washington gas pipeline, it made its way up the ranks of being a choice of the 10th round in 2021 to appear in the show after only the show Three full seasons of the Baseball in the Minological League.

Baker showed up well for himself, passing the 7th-14 through his nine games with two pairs.

He received the bigger part of his work on the ground on a second base, entering four competitions there until it was released to the left once. It was also a designated hit twice and was used by hitting twice more.

But despite the good display it had at the end of the year, Mark Zuckerman of MASN believes that Baker will have difficulty to make the list of nationals at the opening day.

“Reaching the big leagues last September was a major stage for Dusty’s son, but he is facing long chances to remain in the big leagues in the long run. He will not only have to hit, but to prove that he can play multiple positions like A potential helper, “he wrote.

Washington has led Amed Rosario to be their assistant this season, and with Luis Garcia, Jr. has already locked the second base, a place for the list can be difficult to come for Baker, as there are third -base interrogatives that may require more Players with an attempt to wear there.

However, a strong display in the camp will not harm its case.

If he can perform well on the plate, then he will be a valuable asset for the nationals, as they need a desperate need for consistent attackers.

But if he cannot show this, he will probably be sent back to the minors, where he will wait for his next opportunity.
