Hurricane Helen made the land as a powerful hurricane of category 4 at the end of Thursday night, with a stable winds of about 140 miles / h, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm made the land around 11:10 pm local time near Perry, Florida, about 50 miles southeast of Talahasi, and hundreds of thousands of power breaks were reported in the immediate vicinity.

The USA Today power supply card showed more than 200,000 without energy in Pinellas County and over 900,000 by 23:45 on Thursday.

At 1:45 pm on Thursday, Florida reported just under 48,000 power supply interruptions in the state, according to USA Today Tracker Tracker. This number is expected to grow as Helen approaches the shore of the bay of the state.

More than 10,000 interruptions, over 6,000 interruptions in Miami-Dadd County, and just under 5,000 interruptions reported in Palm Beach County were reported in Lee County.
