Boise, ID (CBS2) — The Boise Police Special Victims Unit and the Ada County District Attorney’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for a man charged with lewd conduct with a minor and kidnapping.
Boise Police SVU detectives found evidence that 33-year-old Ali Ahmed Hammoud of Boise may have targeted members of the refugee population and there may be multiple victims.
Ahmed Hammoud is the suspect in an incident that occurred on May 6, 2024.
Police said they received a report on May 7 about a young girl playing outside an apartment complex on South Curtis Road when a man, believed to be Ahmed Hammoud, asked her to get into his car to get her mother’s girl.
Police said the girl refused to get into the car when Ahmed Hammoud “put her in his car” and drove to a parking lot before taking the girl back to the apartments. Police said the girl was not physically injured.
Police said they received other similar reports dating back to December 2023. The most recent incident occurred on October 21, evidence from that investigation determined the suspect touched the victim inappropriately and prevented the victim from exiting the car. The victim in this incident was eventually able to leave and go home. Detectives then learned that Ahmed Hammoud had left the country.
“Based on what we know of the suspect’s prior history, we believe there are likely additional victims and it appears that the suspect’s actions have escalated,” Lt. Ransom said. “We want the refugee community to know about this suspect and to know that the police are on hand to help and liaise with services.”
