In 2016, the Review-Journal became one of two major metropolitan newspapers in the United States to endorse Donald Trump for president. Now the paper has embarked on one of the most cynical and ambitious rehabilitation efforts in the history of modern politics, attempting to portray the 2024 election as one in which honest people can disagree on policy issues.
In a blatant whitewash of our shared immediate history, RJ paints a portrait of the former president without mentioning his attempt, aided and abetted by his campaign and other susceptible members of the Republican Party, to steal my vote and the votes of 700,000 other of our fellow citizens from Nevada. Also curiously absent was any mention of the former president’s chaotic handling of the pandemic, which led to the deaths of tens of thousands of additional Americans and collapsed the relatively strong economy he inherited.
Let’s hope that a large majority of Nevadans have better memories of our unfortunate document and reject any efforts by Mr. Trump to regain power.
