Black Legends of South Carolina: Zola Davis – Post and Courier

In 2020, Zola Davis, Jr., signed with Presbyterian College to play football. He wanted to be South Carolina’s staple as his father, and the kid knew it would be big filling shoes.

This is because Zola Davis is the same legend in Burke High School as well as with Gamecocks. During his senior year, with the bulldogs, he was declared a parade All-American and evaluated the top wide successor in the country. After graduation, he traveled to Colombia, where he immediately became a star. He won honors from the Southeast Conference and continued this inertia to go through his career.

On October 24, 1998, Davis burned the defense of Vanderbilt, as in the draw of 14 catch for 206 yards, which remains the highest reception of a game in the history of South Carolina. Davis is already fourth in the school list of all time in reception (164) and receives yards (2,534) in front of other names such as Alshon Jeffrey, Sydney Rice and others.

He signed with Green Bay Packers in 1999 and played for Cleveland Browns during his short stay at NFL.

In 2014, he was introduced into the Athletic Hall of Fame of USC and remains one of the biggest players in the history of Palmeto.
