Mark Pope and the 14th ranked Kentucky Wildcats clicked their loss to two matches on Saturday, beating South Carolina Gamecocks 80-57 in Rupp Arena. Four players scored in double digits for Wildcats that improved

The Pope praised the defense of his team at the post -game press conference. Kentucky was holding South Carolina to only 32.8% firing while Gamecocks struggled beyond the arc, dropping 18 of 22 attempts of 3 points.

“I thought our boys were really focused on their bigger part,” Pope said. (Timestamp 0:45). “We had some gaps. We can get a lot better, but they were getting a little more destructive, a little more aggressive at the point of attack. Our rotations were good in the process of growing.”

“I thought our big ones were quite diligent in their tasks. Tonight they had complicated tasks. The description of their work was a long time tonight and I decided they were great.”

Mark Pope also credits Kobi Brea for his exceptional defensive idea.

“The play star of the game is no doubt, as there is no question, is Kobi Brea,” Pope said. “(He) was amazing tonight. He was incredible in the protective end. His missed was incredible and his digging was amazing.”

“We brought the third bouncing defender to cover the short role, he was incredible in this.

Pope also praised her bench, more specially Trent Noah and Brandon Garrison, for their contribution. Kentucky reserves represent more than half of the Wildcats points.

“I thought Trent was really solid tonight,” said Pope (Timestamp 4:41). “His energy never spoils and this is a real gift as a coach trying to gather a game, to know exactly what you will get when you put a trend on the floor and this includes some young mistakes.”

“I thought Brandon Garrison was great tonight minus a moment we would like to go back. I thought he was really really, really special tonight,” said Pope (Timestamp 5:18).

Pope also highlighted Amari Williams, who scored in double digits for the fourth consecutive game

“We asked so much of him and he was just still delivering. I thought he was really great tonight,” said Pope (Timestamp 9:21).

Kentucky’s balanced crime helps to win Pope’s records over South Carolina

Otega Oweh led Wildcats in Kentucky to win over Gamecocks of South Carolina, scoring 17 points. He shoots 6-10 from the pitch and perfect 4-from-4 of the free throw line.

Amari Williams also stood for Mark Pope’s team, scoring 10 points when shooting 4 for 9. Brandon Garrison and Kobi Brea provided the so necessary crime from the bench, scoring 15 and 10 points respectively.
