LSU Football is expected to return a key wide receiver against Texas A&M – Sports Illustrated

LSU wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr. has yet to make his debut in 2024 after suffering an ankle injury during the Tigers’ fall camp in August.

In what was initially diagnosed as a “bone bruise,” the veteran was sidelined this season.

“Chris was able to do some individual work,” head coach Brian Kelly said last Wednesday. “It’s a day-to-day situation so he’s still questionable, but we’re moving in the right direction.”

Hilton was inactive against Arkansas in Week 8, but now heads to Week 9 in College Station.

Kelly addressed the media Thursday night to provide his latest updates ahead of the game against No. 14 Texas A&M.

He revealed that Hilton was a full participant in Thursday’s practice after working at “full capacity” during LSU’s final practice before heading to College Station on Friday.

Now, according to the final injury report provided by the Southeastern Conference on Friday night, Hilton has been promoted to “probably” for LSU. He is expected to make his season debut.

Earlier in October, Kelly detailed Hilton’s “unusual” injury and recovery process, while describing how it remains a day-to-day process.

“It was a complicated injury,” Kelly said on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference. “Chris did everything he could to recover as quickly as possible. It was an injury that we did a scan and an MRI. Healing was slow.

“If he had the right healing and was ready to go, he’s put in the time and he’s willing to be there. I want to be clear that everyone needs to understand that if Chris could be there, it would just be one of those unusual injuries that took a lot longer than normal. We’ll get him back there, and when he does, I’m sure he’ll be a welcome addition to our offense.”

He will now make a game-time decision Saturday night at Kyle Field with the LSU Tigers starting against the Texas A&M Aggies at 6:30 pm CT on ABC.
