Avelo Airlines enters the third year of service at Wilmington Airport – Capegazette.com

As of February 1, Avelo Airlines celebrated two years to provide comfortable, hassle -free and affordable commercial air services from Wilmington Airport, known as ILG. His opening flight from 2023 carried 137 passengers seeking sun to Orlando, Florida.

Since then, Avelo has expanded its route map from Wilmington to 14 nonstop destinations, including San Juan, Puerto Rico. With two aircraft, currently based in Wilmington, the airline has completed over 3800 flights, transporting over 530,000 customers through ILG, processed by its 95 crew members based in Wilmington.

“Avelo’s willingness to respond to customers’ demands is refreshing and their foresight in planning popular routes turned out to be a successful time and again,” says Tom Cook, Delaware River & Bay Authority CEO. “Based on consistent and frequent flight reservations, I am sure that Avelo will continue to flourish in ILG. “

A recent example of such an innovation includes pop -up flights to the city city of the Great Game, New Orleans (MSY), a lot of the excitement of Philadelphia fans eagles. The return of Avelo to Nashville (BNA) and Myrtle Beach (MyR) to the ILG schedule is also a good indicator of employee understanding of local customer base and tourist climate.

The founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines said: “In February 2023, we tried to make air travel more accessible, faster and easier for travelers in the Philadelphia area. We have done just that in the last two years. We transformed ILG from a non -commercial airport into a life portal to 14 continuous destinations covering five states and Puerto Rico, and made it with the leading industry reliability. We are grateful for the positive reception that the region congratulates us and we expect prolonged growth next year. “

As this partnership is developing, Drba has made significant investments in marketing efforts, winning over local travelers and attracting residents in the cities of the destination to visit the region. The influx of passengers and subsequent search for more comfortable, affordable amenities have led to many necessary improvements in the building from the age of the 1940s.

With the acquisition of a neighboring property, an additional parking lot was built and opened in October 2024 to increase the total parking capacity to just over 1320 seats. It is currently working with terminal expansion, adding a second gate and a TSA screening line, expanding the waiting areas, renovation of toilet facilities and improving the supply of food and drink.

It will be completed in September 2025, and DRBA employees are planning to welcome even more Avelo Airlines passengers to the newly opened and expanded building at the Wilmington airport terminal.
