Kobi Brea helped to cause Kentucky’s defense efforts against South Carolina – Sports Illustrated

The Kentucky basketball really had to go back on Saturday against South Carolina, and they did just that, responding to bilateral losses with 23 points over Gamecocks in Rupp Arena. Wildcats only authorized 57 points, with their third lowest point allowed this season, as well as the smallest permitted in the SEC home game, as they allowed 54 points for Obnon in 2023.

With so many bright defensive struggles this season, mostly late, Kentucky seems to have made some serious improvements in this end of the floor. Recently, Kentucky’s defense has been offending very difficult positions, but this was not the case at all on Saturday against South Carolina. Much of the improvements in this end of the floor were Kobi Brea, who is known for his crime, but made several huge protective plantations against Gamecocks.

Mark Pope talks about Brea’s defense efforts after the victory and turned out to be really contagious, passing the rest of the team. Brea’s spark in this region really helped to overcome its offensive success, as Kentucky had 14 points from nine turnover of South Carolina.
