Mcallen, Texas – The President of South Texas College Ricardo Solis praised both teachers and students for the success of college with his nursing programs.

The STC associated program in the nursing program leads the State of Texas with 98.14 percent percentage of passing the licensing exam for the National Council for 2024 for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Preliminary results are placed by STC in front of colleges in the community and universities across the country, including Texas University in Austin (92.38 percent) and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (92.14 percent). With the average national NCLEX of 88 percent in 2023 and the average for the state is 92 percent, the performance of the STC significantly exceeds expectations, Solis said.

“This shows that our students and the quality of our programs are equal and more, in many cases other Texas institutions,” Salis said.

Solis said the STC finished hundreds of nurses every year. He said this would not be possible without a specialist faculty. “They really make a difference,” Salis said.

Salis said she also wanted to thank the clinical partners of the STC. They said they were giving SYC students “an exceptional opportunity to gain practical experience.” He also thanked the city of McAlan and the District of Idalgo, which over the years have donated millions of dollars to scholarships to support the success of future StC nurses.
