Winter storms covered the region with soft snow on Saturday.

Central Minnesota saw between 3 and 6 inches of snow overnight, with parts of northern Minnesota reporting 1 to 2 inches of snow.

At noon, the National Meteorological Service registered 3.5 inches of snow in its place in Chanhasen. Meanwhile, Minneapolis-Sv. Paul Airport reported 2.9 inches of snow.

Experts at the time predict moderate snow in Western Wisconsin in the afternoon and very light snow in the distant Eastern Minnesota.

Officials advise to use travel caution.

Between midnight and 8:30 am on Saturday, the state patrol in Minnesota reported about 50 crashes across the country, including two with injuries.

Luminary Lopppet is a fundraising for Lopppet Foundation. Thousands of people are expected to enjoy about 2000 candles ice lights while walking or skiing on the lake.
