Visitors solve the historical mystery in the Western Virginia Independence Hall – WTOV Steubenville

The Western Virginia Independence Hall recently hosted a unique event that transported visitors back to the 1800s, engaging them in a mysterious live game entitled “knocked on the door”. Located in the historical Western Virginia, the interactive performance invited the audience members to decide clues around the disappearance of a fictional host Thomas Hornbrook, while involving local historical elements.

Jade Hernandez, an actor in the play, said: “We have Mrs. Campbell, who is someone known for this building. Her husband is known for many things in this building like a safe that is “broken” but not completely broken in. “

The play, described as “Choose your own adventure,” allowed the audience to influence the result based on their participation and skills to solve problems. Remarkable events in Willing’s history, such as the opening of the Independence Hall in 1859 and the disaster of the railway rail of 1853, were woven into the story.

Hernandez explained the immersive nature of the event, saying: “People enter a museum and read the exhibits and plaques, but they cannot always be completely immersed in it or talk to someone like and go:” Oh, I learn? So this is a fun way to do it where they give way and go: “Oh, wait, I’m learning right now!”

Despite the unfortunate end of the play for a hero, employees in the Western Virginia Independence Hall emphasized the importance of such events. Debbie Jones, a site manager in the Western Virginia Independence Hall, said: “This building speaks for itself. It’s full of history. So why not try to come to life? You can pass, see and read – We want to bring it to life and allow you to experience a small piece of this story personally.

The next event in the West Virginia Independence Hall is The History Bowl, scheduled for later this month.
