BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) — A Baton Rouge woman is dead after the vehicle she was riding in collided with another vehicle on LA 30 in Geismar.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, and claimed the life of Tina Gettridge, 36. She was a passenger in a 2022 Dodge Charger driven by William Kaufman, 32, of Baton Rouge.
Louisiana State Police responded to the scene and began an investigation. They said Kaufman’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on LA 30 while a 2006 Infiniti M35 was traveling westbound on the same road.
At some point, “the Dodge entered the westbound lane in an attempt to pass traffic in the eastbound lane and collided head-on with the Infiniti,” LSP said.

Kaufman and Gettridge were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Gettridge died at the scene of the crash and Kaufman was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of the Infiniti was wearing a seat belt. They were also taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
The LSP said “toxicological samples have been received and submitted for analysis”.
The investigation continues.
