Noel Hunt is proud of Reading’s defense after Huddersfield withdrawal – Irvine Times

After a disappointing implementation of the first half of John Smith’s stadium, Royals improved after the break, although they did not score.

And Hunt was pleased with the second consecutive exclusion that supported the 1-0 victory against Bolton.

Hunt said, “Another clean sheet is a big plus for me.

“It’s not easy to get clean sheets at the back, especially against two really good teams in Bolton and Huddersfield.

“In the second half, we were better than the first, when we looked a little more dangerous in the last third.

“We definitely created the better chances.

“Getting a big place like Huddersfield can be a little striking for some of the younger players, but all the boys really intensified in the second half.

“We could probably work a little more, but we defended each other and attacked better and all the boys worked so hard for each other.

“Now he’s on Tuesday night and Shrusbury at home and this is another difficult test.

“There are no easy games in this division, so we have to look at thinking and attitudes right in the group and hopefully we will do well.”

The Terriers enjoyed the better than the starting 45 minutes, with Kalum Marshall approached as his hard blow was well saved by Joel Pereira.

Reading improved after restarting and Mamadi Kamara, willed inches wide.

At the other near the terriers, Freddie Ladapo is almost late a late winner.

Huddersfield has won only one of his last eight games, but at least they stopped an alarming mileage of three straight and remain in fifth place in the table.

The head of the city Michael Duff said: “Our performance was quite good.

“We created chances, but it seemed that we just missed this little real quality that you needed in and around their six -yard box.

“Remember that these last moments of the move are the most important if you are going to score goals.

“Reading us disappointed, but it is up to us to deal with it.

“The squeezing of all my players was good and we went into some really good areas.

“There are completely different emotions from what we were experiencing last week, but it is disappointing that we still have not won.

“We know it is there, but given those good positions we entered, we did not create almost clear enough chances.

“On top of that, injuries continue to hurt us – today we had to make a number of changes.

“But it’s the same, as it always seems to be, we just have to stretch and focus on the next game now.”
