By Manoj Ratna Shahi, Kathmandu, October 26: The Gundu area of Bhaktapur is full of Mahamali (Amaranth) and Godavari (Chrysanthemum) colours. Locals were busy sending flowers to the bazaar which were produced headed for Tihar.

Locals said that although the market has shrunk, they are continuing the age-old tradition. Picking and stringing Makhamali and Godawari flowers has become a daily routine.

Local trader Nirmala Basnet said the flowers fetch up to Rs. 70,000-80,000 were sold last year, but now they have come down to Rs. 20,000 to 25,000 flowers.

She said she didn’t get the price she speculated because she couldn’t get it from farm to market.
