Detectives from the Directorate for Criminal Investigation (DCI) Murder Division investigate the murder of a patient in a ward at the Kennia National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi.

Gilbert Kinua 39 was brutally concluded on Ward 7B on Thursday night, February 6, 2025 by an unknown striker.

His lifeless body was found to lie on his bed with a slit on Friday morning. No one knows who did it or why they did it.

Kinyua was admitted to KNH on December 11, 2024 due to a brain disorder. Only a few days a month later, his body lay in a blood pool in the hospital ward.

In the ward where Gilbert was admitted, another patient was looking for treatment for the same condition. The patient is weak and cannot explain anything about what happened before and after reporting the quirky incident.

A nurse, who on duty on the night of the incident, told the detectives that she had carried out a routine check on the ward on Thursday at 3 o’clock in the morning and everything was fine.

At 6 pm. On Friday morning, when she returned to the ward where she was Gilbert, she found his lifeless body lying cold on the bed, with a slit on her neck and blood, sprayed everywhere.

Detectives from the Murder Investigation Bureau were notified.

On their arrival, the detectives recovered a blood -colored kitchen knife, which was thrown on the ground floor through the window near where Gilbert was killed. They are looking for answers who committed the murder.

The detectives were at the scene that tried to reconstruct as they extracted CCTV footage from the areas around the ward.

Patients in the neighboring wards, as well as the management of the hospital and family of the deceased, were questioned.

The National Hospital in Kenya in a statement said it was saddened by the tragic death of a patient at the establishment.
