“I was just shocked”: Guardian of Student participating in Fremont Fight, concerned about how the school handled it – WTOL

Fremont, Ohio, the guardian of one of the children participating in a battle outside the Fremont high school, talks about why the school dealt with it.

“Initially, I was just shocked by the sheath as a whole,” said Came Hanson. “My first thing was like,” Oh God, I can’t believe it happened. “

On January 30, around 9am, Hanson received a call that her child was in battle.

“He is such a lover’s boy. He plays football but doesn’t want to hurt anyone,” Hanson said. “He is not a fighter. He is a gentle leg.”

By squeezing the drama that began between her child and another student, she suddenly became two into one situation, with even more children involved. Videos of the incident are quickly distributed online.

“Every time I watched a new video, there were new angles and you can see more happen in the background,” Hanson said. “Every time I look at it, I’m just like,” Why doesn’t anyone stop this? “

Hanson said she had been notified of the match two hours later after the school questioned the observers and participants. The school nurse checked his injuries, and Hanson’s child suffered a destroyed lip and bruising in the head.

“There were numerous students in one of the videos asking, ‘Where are the teachers? “” Why don’t they fight one in one? “

Earlier, the area told WTOL 11 in a statement that teachers were advised not to get in the middle of the battle. Police reports said an adult managed to split the match, but it was about five minutes after it started.

As the duel happened during the bus dropping out, the students have not yet been allowed in the building, leaving a lot of time for incidents like this to happen.

“I understand that there is an explanation for everything that has happened, but in everything, holes happened,” Hanson said. “If these children are dropped and do not control by someone who can intervene when needed, they are mainly left to take care of themselves.”

Hanson hopes the school and the administration will consider this incident as a way of growth. She hopes to add additional supervision for adults, even a volunteer.

“At some point, everyone has a choice to do,” Hanson said. “Do you sit and let the kids do what they do because you don’t want to hurt and it’s not within your salary to jump? As a parent, I can’t imagine, be it my child or not, just leaving the kids to pushed each other.

In a previous statement by the Fremont Police Department, the three boys were stopped to combat school property and expect a court trial in court for a violation of behavior.
