The Ceystone Association (MHA) Center at Michigan Health & Hospital (MHA) celebrates Courtney Bauman, RN at the Corewell Health Trenton hospital, with its three -month MHA Keystone Center talking! Recipient of the February Award.

Talking! The award celebrates persons or teams in hospitals in Michigan who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to prevent damage to patients or staff. Bauman was recognized for his commitment to patient safety, advocating a patient whose discharge poses potential health risks.

“It is an honor for me to get this recognition and to know that it is a positive result for one of my patients,” Bauman said. “We are authorized at Corewell Trenton to advocate for our patients, regardless of the role. I am grateful that I am part of a team and organization that inspires this confidence in all healthcare professionals. “

Shortly before the patient is planned for discharge, Courtney identifies changes in the patient’s condition. Courtney intervention guarantees that the patient has received the necessary care and has increased the importance of speaking in critical situations.

“Cortney’s dedication has done everything different and emphasizes the importance of talking about patient safety,” says Christine Donahue, RN, president of health hospitals in Corewell, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne. “Her ability to recognize concern and take the necessary steps to deal with it embodies the strong culture of the first patient we maintain in Corewell Health.”

Additional finalists for the fourth quarter of the 2024-25 program were included:

  • Spencer Smith, Medical Center Mimichigan Salt
  • Thomas Warner, McLaren Big Lansing
  • Beronica Bahoura, Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital

“We are proud to recognize dedicated health specialists such as courti, whose intercession and commitment to patient safety have a significant impact,” said MHA Executive Director Brian Peters. “Her quick thinking and desire to speak as an example of the highest standards of care and reflects Corewell Health’s dedication to promote the strong safety culture in hospitals in Michigan.”
