“We are excited and deeply appreciated to welcome Roy Wood, Jr. in our Alma Mater for this event just one night,” said a prepared statement in Famu’s intermediate president Timothy Beard. The beard will measure the event with the Vice President of the University of Marketing and Communications Alonda Thomas.

“This is an exceptional opportunity to experience your spiritual and insightful perception of the world – especially at a time when we can all use a moment to gather, reflect and rediscover joy,” Biend added.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama began his comedy career as he studied journalism at Famu in 1998, where he would perform standup in former Talahasi places such as the warehouse and cow house. He will also travel on the Greyhound to appear at clubs in Tampa, Jacksonville and St. Petersburg.

But after years to bring laughter and become a famous comedian, Wood’s talent led to success as his recently published special new Hulu comedy called “Lonely Flowers”. He also hosts “I have a news for you” on a CNN-American adaptation of the longest-lasting comedy series in the UK-September.

The planned visit to Wood comes at a time when the new episodes of the CNN show begin on February 15 with the premiere of season two.

In addition, Wood is a current celebrity competitor of danger! – A game show in which the famous competitors compete to earn money for a charity of their choice – and he became a semifinalist after competing as a quarterfinalist in a show on January 29th. The quarterfinals of the competition end on March 12, but the schedule for the semifinals is still announced.

Wood’s career also consisted that he served as a correspondent for the “Emdy show Won” by Comedy Central Central for eight years from 2015 to 2023.

“Every time I go back to the highest of the seven hills, it’s an honor,” Wood says in a university edition. “This time is no different. I can’t wait to go on stage and let go of my mouth and discuss the things that make us laugh, the things that annoy us and the things that make us people. I also have a few parking tickets from my sub -days, which I have to take care of at last. ”

In addition, the nominee for documentary Emmy and the writer of America (WGA), a nominated writer, acquired international attention as hosting the White House correspondents in 2023, where he presented himself as President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris S

“His unique perspective as a journalist, political commentator and comedian will undoubtedly resonate with our students, graduates and the whole community,” Beard said.

The Famu Month FireSide Famu conversation with Wood Monday is free and open to the public, and it will also be live on the YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/famutube1887.
