The Ohio Highway Patrol announced that an OVI checkpoint will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday on Rawson Avenue in Fremont.
The OVI checkpoint, paid for by federal grants, aims to deter and catch impaired drivers.
The checkpoint will be conducted in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injuries and fatal crashes. Saturation patrols put more officers on the roads when people are more likely to be driving under the influence.
The Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office and Fremont Police Department will work with the Highway Patrol to deter impaired drivers in Sandusky County.
“If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before drinking,” according to the patrol’s press release. “Don’t let another life be lost because of the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel while impaired.”
