Sarah Laidlaw, the wife of former Miter 10 chief executive Mark, has described a dramatic multi-storey mansion bordering the Yarra River in Toorak.

Sarah Laidlaw last listed 1 Edzell Avenue in 2016 with hopes of $20 million.

A four-bedroom 1920s home, completely remodeled by SJB Architects, has price hopes of $50 million to $55 million.

It was tentatively proposed in 2016 — just before a year-long local housing boom — with a $20 million guide.

The couple invested $6.1 million in 2013, then renovated and expanded.

It is Toorak’s second trophy estate to go on the market this month with price expectations in excess of $50 million.

The other, a four-year-old neoclassical, 2,000 square meter, surrounded by a pool and tennis court on Irving Rd, is being offered by senior care executive Peter Arvanitis and his wife Areti.

The most expensive Victorian home for public sale is back in Toorak – Cranlana on Clendon Rd was offered last month by the Meyer family with expectations of more than $95 million (story continues below).

The 1,741-square-foot home is expected to sell for over $50 million.

Another important Toorak list

At 1 Edzell Ave, the Laidlaw property extends to 1,741 sq m with a boathouse and jetty.

The Toorak home contains four bedrooms, two offices and a gym.

The residence contains a grand entrance and a media room with a bar opening onto a landscaped garden with water features and bench seating. There is a temperature-controlled basement, gym, two offices and a four-car garage.

Establishing his executive career with Metcash, Mr Laidlaw led Miter 10 for a decade from 2010. Between 2020-2023 he was Chairman of Total Tools.

Seven years ago, the Laidlaws unsuccessfully offered Binnum, a Guildford Bell-designed home in Portsea, for sale with hopes of an $8 million price tag.
