Wyndham Clark struck seven under Par 64 to take the lead with one blow after the first round of Phoenix Open.

The US Open 2023 champion struck seven birds in a wicked circle in the TPC Scottsdale.

The Americans Taylor Moore and Lee Hodges are bound for a second at six floor.

Clark’s performance came after a disappointing defense of the Pebble Beach title last week, where he finished jointly the 73rd.

“I haven’t played my best golf in the last few weeks, so it’s nice to have a clean circle where we did a lot of good things,” Clark said.

“I was really patient and somehow lightened the road in the circle.”

Six players, including Denmark Nikolai Hoigaard, are two shots behind Clark.

The world number one Scottie Shoti, playing his second event of the year after undergoing surgery, interrupting his hand on a broken wine glass is five backs after 69.

Nine players failed to finish their circle with a game hung for darkness.

They will complete their circles when the game resumes at 15:15 GMT on Friday.
