No injuries reported after an explosion at the Geismar plant, say MPs – AOL

Baton Rouge, La. (BRPRoud) – The Service of the Pance Sheriff said that no one was wounded after a possible explosion in Westlake on Gacemar on Wednesday, December 18th.

According to the sheriff’s office, there was no closure of roads, shelter orders or outside the site.

Chip Swearngan, Senior Director of Corporate Communications and State Relations of Westlake, said the plant had experienced a pressure event in its Vinyl chloride (VCM) ward at 9:25 am.

“The VCM unit was safely closed and the unit was evacuated as a precaution. The local Caer was notified. It was completely clearly issued around 10am, “Swearngan said.
