The Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley’s annual Casino Night and Dog House Auction “Howler-ween” party held Oct. 12 raised more than $24,000, the largest amount raised in the event’s history, according to a news release.
In addition to the casino games, the event featured raffles with prizes including a Disneyland package, flight vouchers to San Francisco from San Bernardino International Airport, an Eastern Sierra vacation package and Los Angeles Kings tickets.
The event also featured music, dancing, a caricaturist, henna tattoos, food and awards for best costumes in several categories.
A new addition to this year’s event was an outdoor performance by former Voice contestant Michael Landingham.
The dog house and dog bed auction, which raised more than $700, included an animatronic Snoopy dog house built by Garner Holt, according to the news release.
Funds raised at the event support the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley’s programs and services, including a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, a humane education program and a cruelty investigation program.
Event sponsors included Caston Inc., Idexx Laboratories, Wells Fargo Financial Advisors, Liberty Insurance Brokers, All Pro, Moneytree, Boehringer Ingelheim, Dechra, Rotary Club of San Bernardino, San Bernardino International Airport and Tacos Los Carnales.
