Madison shreds Highland in season opener – LocalNews8.com

REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI) – Two top five 6 teams square off in this big battle between the Madison Bobcats and the visiting Highland Rams.

The opener of a game that both head coaches said felt like the first playoff game saw Lana Alvarico take this one out of the end zone and not get very far.

The Rams couldn’t get the ball moving in the air on the first down as Belknap faced some pressure early. That first ride ended with a bang.

The Bobcats then went ahead when Torgerson hit Jake Cordero up the middle for what looked like a quick gain, but Highland defenders couldn’t bring him down and went all the way to the opposite 5-yard line.

After a penalty pushed Madison back, they ended up getting six as Torgerson connected with Cordero again, making it 7-0 Bobcats after the extra point.

In the second quarter, Madison kept going as Torgerson hit Lucas Franson to get into the red zone.

A few plays later, Torgerson connected with Barkley Beck for a 6 and with the PAT it was 14-0.

Madison goes on to win this one by a score of 42 to 7.
