ForkLift Fire Sparks Hazmat in the port of Wilmington – 1150: 00/101.7FM WDEL

Forklifts fire led to a spill of diesel fuel and an incident with dangerous materials, in the port of Wilmington on Thursday morning, February 6, 2025.

Wilmington firefighters arrived at the scene at about 8:40 pm and found a forklift, wrapped in flames.

The fire was quickly under control, but the destroyed fuel line led to a call from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and the Belvedere fire -haired trailer to contain and clean the spill.

No injuries have been reported. It took a few hours to clear the scene.
