Campaigners held an event to mark the campaign’s successes at Forum nightclub in the city center on Tuesday, attended by around 50 supporters.
Ms Keating said the campaign to save the building had “evolved over the years” and they were in talks with city councilors and West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker.
The curved, six-storey, Brutalist office block was designed by architect James Roberts, also known for creating the Rotunda on New Street.
Supporters want the city’s many large buildings to be preserved, repurposed and redeveloped and are continuing to co-ordinate objections to selected planning applications, with one immediate concern being 1 Lancaster Circus., external
On Thursday, the group received confirmation that they had been successful in their application for a grant from the Homes for Us housing campaign, which Ms Keating said would be “invaluable” in helping them achieve their next goals.
“What is Birmingham? What are we doing with our carbon footprint?” she said.
“We cannot demolish buildings.
“As long as Smallbrook stands, it will remain a focus and symbol for all the issues we will continue to campaign on.”
