FSU hosts the Tallahassee Community for the 10th Year Mathematics Day – Florida State News

The day of mathematical entertainment is structured as an open house with various attractions, placed in 10 rooms for activities. By E.Xploring polygons through computer programming, creating fractals or emphasizing the impact of women in mathematics, this year’s activities for activities covered wide -ranging educational topics. The participants also created balloons, learned about snails and participated in a newly introduced cleaner hunt.

“One of the rooms for the activities we conducted this year was a mathematics room in nature, which showed where you could find mathematics in nature, art and music,” Hardal said. “This room also introduced students to mathematical models, which are common in nature, such as the famous sequence of Fibonacci and a spiral.”

These activities and demonstrations help students understand valuable mathematical topics while arguing their interest in learning.

“My children are always expecting a mathematically fun day,” said Megan Ross, who attends the event with her three children. “Every year, my children are very excited to try different activities. All Math Fun Day employees are incredibly engaged, especially with younger children, which makes them excite to learn new things. “

More than 100 volunteers consisting of teachers, staff, student volunteers and student organizations – including Mathematics StudentsTher FSU Mathematics Association Head of Mathematics and The head of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in FSU – He gathered to guarantee the success of Day Mathematics.

The event also gave FSU students the opportunity to take on a leadership role in mathematics.

“This year, we returned an idea that I presented for last year’s event, which paints series and sequences of Blackboard to decode students,” says Chris Rizovic, student coordinator of mathematical games and PhD students in the third year. “Some of the students were stumbled while others worked in the series in a few minutes. My favorite part of Day Math Fun is to see the gears turn inside the students’ heads as they try to understand things. ”
