Licension plates starting with the letter “B” are expected to be issued since the beginning of February 2025

Madison, Wi (WTAQ-Wluk)-In nearly eight years, recently issued registration plates in Wisconsin will start with the letter “B.”

All the standard, non -diligent signs had started with the letter “A”, as in 2017 the division of motor vehicles began to issue seven characteristics of the signs.

There were 4.7 million combinations of letters and number starting with ‘A.’

“Wisconsin DMV is proud to provide Wisconsin drivers from the powers they need to get safe from point A to point B and now we move from A to B,” DMV administrator Tommy Winkler said in news message S “Drivers can ‘B’ on the alert for the new registration plates when they start to unfold throughout the country this month.”

Each year, DMV issues more than 600,000 registration plates. About 3.5 million vehicles have standard Wisconsin plates.

Wisconsin’s licensed signs had six characters from 1986 to 2017. In 2000, the signs went from starting with letters with numbers.

The use of seven characters gives about 100 million combinations, compared to about 20 million for six characters. The letters “I”, “O” and “Q” are not used because they look like numbers.
