HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – James Madison University’s Homecoming Weekend is October 25-27.
Students and alumni came to JMU on Friday wearing purple and gold. One of the weekend’s events is Quad Fest, a free event where people come to the square for games, food and performances.
“I would say this is the signature event of the alumni offices for Homecoming, where we invite all of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to the four for a fun free event where everyone is welcome,” Director of Relations with alumni Paula,” Polglass said.
Although alumni can return to JMU at any time of the year, Polglase said homecoming is a special time.
“Something about coming home is just special; it’s time to get back on campus to reconnect with friends,” Polglass said.
Polglass said he loves seeing alumni return to campus.
“[I love] seeing alumni who haven’t been back in a while and get them to reconnect with JMU as a place,” Polglase said.
Polglase said QuadFest is a campus-wide effort led by the alumni relations office, and planning for next year will begin soon.
While there are alumni who have been attending for years, some are returning home for the first time.
“I was in the parade and it was really fun. QuadFest is a really good time; there is so much school spirit,” freshman Lily Evans said.
The main event will be the football game on Saturday. According to JMU, the game is sold out.
