Magic City Classic returns: Improved transportation services and stadium access for fans – WBRC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The 83rd annual Magic City Classic presented by McDonald’s begins Saturday and organizers are taking extra steps to streamline getting in and out of Legion Field. Chief executive Peren King outlined several improvements for fans, including a significant increase in transfer services and improvements to stadium access points.

Approximately 75 shuttles, including ADA-accessible vehicles, will transport fans to and from the stadium, departing from the Birmingham Crossplex, Park Place and Downtown Birmingham. Ride time is expected to vary from 15 to 20 minutes.

Shuttles from the Crossplex will begin at 9:30 a.m., while shuttles from Park Place and Downtown will begin at 11:30 a.m., with all three running up to two hours after the game ends. A $5 shuttle fee applies to adults, but children under six can ride for free.

King emphasized that ticket holders should check their ticket at the front door, with officials working with Regional Bank to simplify and organize entry.

In his words, “So we’re doing some more directional things to say, hey, look, please enter through gate five if you have this pass level, if you have this ticket, please enter through gate three. What they do is help with outside greeters as well, reminding people of clear bag rules, reminding them to make sure they have the right size connectors, reminding them that there are other doors they can enter through. We just want to make it a nice experience, not where everyone at two o’clock is trying to get in at the same time.”

Shuttles are expected to run continuously for approximately 12 hours on game day. Gates at Legion Field will open at noon, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m
