Police confirm third arrest in connection with death of John Taylor in Kilwinning – Irvine Times

Police Scotland have now confirmed that a 19-year-old man has been taken into custody, just hours after a second arrest of a 53-year-old man was made as part of the investigation into the incident.

It has not been confirmed whether any of the individuals have yet been charged.

Both arrests were made on Friday, October 25. The first person in custody, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with the death on Tuesday, October 22.

Key O’Connor then appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court the following day, where he pleaded no contest to murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

After his appearance, he was taken for further examination and remand. He is due back in court in the coming days.

Mr Taylor, 44, was found with serious injuries outside his home on Pollock Crescent at around 1.55pm on Friday 18 October. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The day after his death, following a post-mortem, police confirmed they were investigating a homicide – saying they believed the incident was a “targeted attack”.

Following this latest arrest, Police Scotland say inquiries are continuing and have asked any member of the public who can help with their inquiries to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: “Detectives have set up a website which gives members of the public access to a form to send information directly to the major investigation team, which can be submitted anonymously.”

The portal is available at:

They added: “Alternatively, anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1878 of 18 October 2024.”
