This month, two city departments host events to share paid jobs and volunteer opportunities. Virginia Aquarium will host a virtual open volunteer house, and Parks & Recreation will host a fair for work at the Bow Creek Recreation Center.

Virginia Aquarium Virtual Volunteer Open House

The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center offers meaningful ways to support the environment and local conservation through volunteering. Check out various volunteer opportunities In the Virginia AquariumSuch as animal visitors and conservation visitors through an open virtual volunteer house. Get acquainted and talk to the aquarium staff and learn about volunteers and openings for young people, adults and student experience.

Fair for work with parks and recreation of Virginia
February 26, 4:00 pm, Bow Creek Recreation Center

Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation (VBPR) will host a work fair to find energetic, dedicated employees to fill hundreds of spring and summer part -time positions. The department carries 350-500 employees a year to fill those seasonal positions that have the potential to extend in the fall. Positions with particularly high demand include staff for raising children, saving and rescuers.

2025. Summer Youth Employment Program
Send applications by March 12

Residents of Virginia Beach, aged 16-21, can apply for the summer youth’s employment program for 2025. Each year, this opportunity to build a career uses over 100 people to work in various city agencies and private companies. The eight -week program works from June 16 to August 6.

Internships for college students
Applications accepted now and current

The award -winning program for internships of the city of Virginia Beach is intended to provide students with the opportunity to apply knowledge from their field of study in a professional environment. Depending on the positions available, some interns can even be hired as full -time employees. The current internship opportunities are offered by the departments of budget and management services, parks and recreation, utilities and public works.
