WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WGHP) — When you come to the fair, there’s a lot on your mind. You think about the environment and the games, but who can come to the fair without thinking about food?
At this year’s Carolina Classic fair, chef Brandon Cassidy runs the Food Freaks food truck, named after Cassidy’s daughter.
“My first item was Apple Rings. And when I designed them 14 years ago, my daughter said it was really a strange food. And the name Food Freaks was born,” he said.
Food Freaks is mostly known for its burgers.
“So we’re known for our burgers. The most popular here was our homemade burger, which is also the most popular on the streets. I have an Oklahoma burger, which is a battered burger topped with onions, and we make a homemade dill, honey, and mustard sauce. I actually had a customer challenge me to make this burger because he had it, so I duplicated it and made it. But we also have one that is the most popular of this year’s The Dirty South Burger,” Cassidy said.
You can find Food Freaks at the Carolina Classic Fair weekend in Winston-Salem. They are just to the right if you enter through Gate 1. You can also find Food Freaks on Facebook where they post where they will be throughout the year.
