Fantasy football managers who competed early in the season with rookie Bucky Irving of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could see their faith rewarded in a big way.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, “Irving’s skill set is hard to ignore, and opposing coaches game-plan him as if he were the focal point of the offense.”
Irving is in equal parts in the back along with third-year speedster Rachaad White. Both had 10 carries for 49 yards in last Sunday’s 33-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, but Irving scored a touchdown.
White is expected to remain Tampa Bay’s starter, but Fowler noted that Irving’s skills could ultimately put him over the top.
“There’s a lot of talk in these circles about Irving. That usually says something,” Fowler said. “Irving’s fluid running style and big-play potential will keep him in the lineup, and when Tampa Bay needs to win by running, there will be plenty of carries to go around.”
