Wilmington, NC (WWAY) – Governor Josh Stein stopped in Port City on Wednesday. This is the first time Stein has visited Wilmington since his opening last month.

The newly elected governor was here to discuss how public services could better support veterans who want to get into the workforce.

Stein toured the NC Works County office, a state agency that provides job seekers resources.

Local selected round table discussion leaders joined Stein.

He said his office is committed to expanding veterans services.

“We are one of the most friendly countries veterans in the country. We want to make this statement the truth and the way you do is help veterans to overcome any challenge they face. Some of them are looking for work, some of other types of services; Health care, homes, ”he said.

Much of Stein’s governoring campaign was appealed to North Carolina veterans, of which there are more than 600,000 living in the state – creating North Carolina, the fifth most common state for veterans.
