The city is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new health center – KGNS

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – People living in one of the city’s oldest parts will now have easier access to health care.

Friday, October 25th was the official ribbon cutting ceremony for Gateway Community Health Center in West Laredo.

The new clinic will include all primary care, senior care and pediatric care. There will also be a laboratory and a pharmacy on the territory.

According to Director of Communications and Public Affairs, David Kash Vasquez, “The data shows that we are a medically underserved community, Gateway understands that. We understand that we don’t have enough primary care doctors, we understand that we don’t have enough specialists, and we understand that there are long waits when you go to the doctor’s office. It’s because we don’t have enough health professionals, this clinic and all the work Gateway does is a testament to our mission to provide health care for all.”

Over $2 million in federal funding was awarded to help build the center.
