The Williamsburg contractor was appointed on Monday for major theft fees for being claimed to have stolen $ 318,000 from a pair on the park on the slope and spent the money for magnificent purchases.

The 43 -year -old Hake Safarian has been accused of receiving payment for a major project for the couple’s brown housing home and does not work, instead spending the funds on luxury purchases, including Porsche, designer goods and Airbnb reservation.

Safarian was appointed to the court of the Brooklyn Supreme Court Danny Chun on February 3 on a charge of accusing him of a large second -degree theft. He was released without guarantee and was again in court on April 2.

Safarian lawyers did not return Brooklyn paper for comment.

According to an investigation by the Brooklyn District Prosecutor’s Office, Safarian, a licensed general contractor at the time, concluded an agreement with the couple in December 2021 to renovate their Brownstone Park.

On June 15, 2022, the parties signed a contract outlining the demolition, site and structural work, with the project budgeting at $ 1.29 million. Two days later, the couple made a deposit of $ 322,000 to Safaryan’s bank account.

Prosecutors say Safarian has spent almost all personal costs, including $ 28,000 in advance for 2018. Porsche Macan SUV, $ 17,750 a rent for his apartment and thousands of dollars for designer goods from brands and Alexander McQueen. He is supposed to have spent significant sums for hotels, restaurants, bars and Airbnb rental at Riverhead, New York.

The District Prosecutor’s Office claims that Safarian has paid only about $ 4,000 to a site safety plan, leaving the project for updating untouched. He also notes that his general contractor’s license expired on February 6, 2023 and has never been renewed.

The couple repeatedly demanded their money back, but Safarian claims to have provided inconsistent explanations for the lack of progress, including claims of audit from the insurance company. He was reported that he had stopped communicating with them completely until the spring of 2023. The case was initiated after the couple submitted a report to the Center for Action of the District Prosecutor in Brooklyn.

“This defendant claims to arrange his own pockets by taking advantage of a family in Brooklyn, which he trusts him,” said District Attorney Eric Gonzalez in a statement. “My office will continue to investigate and pursue fraud in the home improvement industry and will seek justice for those who are victims of criminal behavior.”
