Winston-Salem, NC-the Carolina Thunderbirds sweeps the weekend against Blue Ridge Bobcats in an exciting way with a 1-0 win on Friday night in Whiteville and coming from behind 4-3 Saturday win in Winston-Salem. With both wins, Thunderbirds won six straight games and sat ten points before second place Baton Rouge in the mainland division.

On Friday evening, Gus Ford found the lone goal of the game in the game of power with 2:40, left in the first period while Thunderbirds Netminder Boris Babik raised his second stop in the season, stopping all 28 shots he saw when Carolina made 1 1 – 0 victory at Hitachi Energy Arena. In the second game, Thunderbirds gathered from a goal down in the 3rd period, scoring twice when Joe Kangelosi scored the winner of the game, with 9:33 remained in regulation to secure the six points over the weekend.

Thunderbirds are now making their second trip to Port Huron, Michigan this season to face Port Huron. Carolina saw Prwlers in October to start the season at McMorran Arena, dividing the two sides with two games. Carolina won on the night of the opening, 4-0, before losing the next night, 3-2. The game one of the series is set for 19:05 on Friday night, while the match appears on Saturday night again at 7:05 pm 11 of Carolina’s next 18 games away from the Fairgrounds arena.

Road Dogs: With the Acchl Championship who come to Winston-Salem, Thunderbirds start a two-week trip to Port Huron, Michigan, before staying on the road next weekend with a series against Mississippi Sea Wolves.
