South Carolina ETV and Public Radio (Scetv) are excited to announce that Darryl Huger has joined the Scetv team as a news director. With more than 30 years of experience, Hyur brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for telling stories to Scetv. In this role, he runs news operations on radio, television and online platforms, supporting Scetv’s commitment to transparent and comprehensive news.

Huger’s distinctive career has covered decades in broadcast news, with leadership roles in South Carolina and outside. Most recently, Huger serves as a senior communications specialist in corporate communications for Dominion Energy. During his three -year term as Wach Fox news director in Colombia, Huger managed the record of the historic flood of 2015, which included the launch of new news at 5:00 pm to provide vital updates and resources for residents.

The first role of the Huger director was in WTVM/WXTX in Columbus, Georgia, where he runs ABC (WTVM) and FOX (WXTX) news teams while controlling a news desk based at the University of Prolan. Huger served as an assistant news director at the WCSC Live 5 News in Charleston, where he helped form operations in the news of one of the leading stations on the low side.

Huger’s deep connection to Wis News 10 in Colombia covers three separate terms, each contributing to its growth and understanding of the news industry. He began his career there as a news photographer in the 1980s before being promoted to a task manager. During these early years, Huger played a major role in key moments in the history of the station, such as the launch of the first wis satellite truck, Newstar 10And he worked with the legendary meteorologist Jim Gandhi during the land of Hurricane Hugo in South Carolina. Later, Huger returned to WIS as a managing editor, where he led the content operations and the newsroom from 2000 to 2005.

A native of Charleston, Daryl Hur, is a graduate of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of South Carolina. His career is marked by numerous interviews with celebrities such as Mohammed Ali, Ella Fitzgerald, Little Richard, Jane Kennedy, Johnny Coshni, Shilley Cholm, Johnny Cash, Nancy Wilson and Maya Angel.

Hugger’s appointment marks a home return, as his career with Scetv began in 1985, when ETV Upstate hired him as his main photographer, where he later became a senior producer. In its current role, Huger monitors news operations in radio, television and online platforms of SCETV, guaranteeing commitment, cooperation and high quality content delivery. Its responsibilities include SC Public Radio Management Morning edition and All the things under consideration local coverage as well as directing broadcast and online news. Huger will work closely with Scetv director for transparency, improving public access to information through live streams and other multimedia efforts. He will also support Scein, the network meteorological service and coordinates news coverage with key programs to provide complete and engaging news about the audience throughout the country.

In 2024, Scetv strengthened its news operations, reflecting the dedication of the network to ensure a timely, accurate and impactful local coating in multiple platforms. This effort emphasizes the joint, multi -platform approach to telling stories, ensuring that the audience can engage seamlessly with Scetv’s news content. With this unified approach, Scetv aims to be a leader in public service journalism by projecting the votes and stories that make South Carolina unique.
