GREENSBORO, Md. – Caroline County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested three people in connection with an armed robbery in August.
On Aug. 10, detectives responded to the 100 block of Mill Street for a reported armed robbery, learning that a 19-year-old man had been assaulted with a firearm after his cell phone was stolen. During the course of the investigation, police identified three suspects as Travis Gilbert, Marshall Ebling and Brian Melvin.
Gilbert and Ebling were taken into custody on August 23, and Melvin was arrested on October 18.
Gilbert was charged with Conspiracy – First Degree Assault, Conspiracy – Armed Robbery, Second Degree Assault, Conspiracy – Second Degree Assault, Robbery, False Imprisonment, Conspiracy – False Imprisonment, Verbal Extortion/Threaten To Hurt, Theft and extortion: value under $1,000 . He was later released under house arrest.
Ebling was charged with Armed Robbery, Use of a Firearm/Felony – Violent Felony, Conspiracy – First Degree Assault, Conspiracy – Second Degree Assault, Conspiracy – False Imprisonment, Extortion: Value Under $1,000, Conspiracy – Armed Robbery, first and second degree assault, false imprisonment and reckless endangerment. He was booked into the Caroline County Detention Center.
Melvin was charged with verbal extortion/threat to injure, conspiracy-verbal extortion/threat to injure, armed robbery, conspiracy-armed robbery, robbery, conspiracy-robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, false imprisonment, conspiracy – false imprisonment, conspiracy – first degree assault and use of a firearm/felony. He was later released under house arrest.
