San Bernardino County Animal Care is Joining Multi -Agency Efforts to Rescue Pets against Los Angeles Wilds – the Internal Empire Community

In response to fires in southern California, multi-aging cooperation emphasized the critical role of coordinated efforts during natural disasters. Each participating organization contributed to specialized resources and expertise, including vital support from animal care agencies.

San Bernardino’s lieutenant of the Activation Department Saenz works with Los Angeles animal services to help the care and evacuation of animals left behind when the fire spreads. Every day, she attended briefings at the animal shelter in Western Los Angeles, where she was appointed different responsibilities in support of response efforts. Many pets had to be sheltered on the spot due to the restrictions of evacuation, including turtles, fish and cats KOI. While most pets were evacuated, it provided care and food for others, including a turtle of 90 pounds and several other pets.

“While helping with the fires in LA, I was reminded of the stability and strength of the affected people,” Saenz said. “The need for support is huge and it is listening to be known that animal care in San Bernardino County can join neighboring agencies to be part of the mission. All efforts are reported and together we can make a change in the lives of those who face such challenging times. “

Readiness

Fires serve as a reminder of the need for families to include pets in their emergency plans. Animal care in San Bernardino County encourages residents to prepare a pet evacuation kit that includes basic things such as food, water, medicines, identification labels and comfort elements.
