The city of Wilmington receives a check from Duke Energy for Flood Gauges – Wway Newschannel 3

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) – Wilmington City was represented with a $ 25,000 check of Duke energy during a municipal council meeting on Tuesday night to help protect homes and residents of floods.

The money will be used to buy four floods.

The dimensions will be placed in several waterways throughout the city, including Barnard Creek, which flows into the Cape Ferrr River south of the city port.

One gauge is in place in the Cape Fair River, near the city.

The mayor Bill Sappho said that the dimensions would help the city to prepare better for emergencies.

“So it is important to have these measures to determine how we build our resilience, how we work with our people to manage emergencies and people in those areas that are influenced by it,” Sappho said. “So this is critically important and it was something we talked about.”

The right time when the dimensions will be introduced is unknown.
