Baton Rouge Red Dragon owners are withdrawing: “We need someone more than we can support music” – Advocate

Chris and Liz Maxwell, who owned and managed a Red Dragon listening room in Baton Rug for 24 years, will retire in four to five months, Facebook announced on Monday.

“I will look for a buyer for a business and/or tenant for the building. Chris Maxwell publishes. “Give the word … We need someone more you to continue the music for the next 24 years!”

The building is located on 2401 Florida Blvd. in Baton Rouge. The place of the intimate show has attracted local and national eclectic songs of songs, it estimated about 1316, Chris Maxwell estimates.

In the meantime, the place has a full schedule of shows called the “farewell tour”. She includes performers like Rodney Crowel, Bill Kirchen and a huge blues show, among other concerts.

The last show featuring Chris Knight’s group is set for June 5th. Maxwells will then host a big party for its musicians and patrons.

“I knew this would happen, but it only worsens the hearing of this news,” says Buddy Russell, a friend of the owners, who created the backyard in place of Buddy outdoors during the pandemic. “Chris Maxwell has built a legendary place for music, working tirelessly for 24 years. I cannot imagine the live music scene in Baton Rouge without the Red Dragon listening room.”
