Montpelier, VT. (WCAX) – State regulators ask Vermont’s legislators to delay the new race track rules.

The racing track checks were restored in 2019 after two viewers were injured in a Thunder Road crash.

A new report found that the State Regulation is superfluous due to existing insurance policies. Insurance companies do not want to cover the accidents, and the racing tracks are motivated to have appropriate insurance if an incident will happen.

Vermont is one of the five conditions that regulate and inspect the race tracks.

“This is an important piece of Vermont’s history, here we have a large number of race tracks from other countries. And when we look through the country around what is happening in the regulation of the race track, Vermont was an anomaly, “said Lauren Hibbert of the VT professional regulation service.

Vermont Fil Scott governor, who is also a car racer, says he supports the elimination of the state -owned race track.
